CatRescue 901 is a small team of volunteers who are dedicated to helping cats in need in pounds and the community. We do not receive any funding and are only able to continue our vital rescue work thanks to the generosity of the community. Donations over $2 are tax deductible. Thank you for your support.

Thank you for contacting CatRescue 901. As a volunteer-run rescue group, we receive many more requests for assistance than we can respond to. Please use the links below for quick advice as we cannot respond to all individual requests. If possible we will contact to you in due course.

Urgent Medical Query
Don’t wait – contact your local vet immediately. Please see this list.
Found Abandoned Kittens
If you have found abandoned kittens, we recommend contacting your local vet immediately for advice. Further information can be found in this article from PetRescue – Help! I’ve found a stray cat family.
Rehome Your Pet
We don’t accept surrenders. We recommend viewing our web page for tips on how to Rehome Your Pet.
Desexing Assistance
Our Subsidised Desexing Program runs during September every year. However, we do try to assist all year as funds allow.
Please check the National Desexing Network for programs in your area. If you are in Sydney please email jenny@catrescue901.org.au to see if we can issue you subsidised or low cost desexing vouchers. Please note we cannot help with trapping or transporting.
Cat Colony Assistance
Please read the following article on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) from US based group Alley Cat Allies to understand what is involved.
If you are prepared trap and transport the cats yourself, our TNR volunteer can contact you to assist you with advice, possible loan of a cat trap (wait times exist), and we may be able provide some Subsidised Desexing Vouchers for use at Concord Veterinary Hospital as funds allow. In this case please email jenny@catrescue901.org.au
Other rescue agencies
For a comprehensive list of Rescue Groups Australia wide (you can narrow the search by state), please go to the PetRescue Rescue Directory. The more rescue groups you contact, the greater your chance of finding one who can provide the assistance that you are after. Please note however that many of the rescue groups listed are small, volunteer-run groups and are always full. Note that during kitten season (approx. November – August) rescue groups are inundated with mothers and kittens. You may be more likely to receive help, especially with adult cats, if you contact rescue groups outside of kitten season.
Alternatively, the 3 largest rescue groups in NSW with paid staff and an office / shelter are:
Cat Protection Society of NSW Inc – (No kill in NSW, check with other States if you make contact.)
Phone: (02) 9519 7201
Animal Welfare League NSW – (Low kill – may euthanase feral/sick animals)
Phone: (02) 8899 3333
RSPCA NSW (Yagoona) (Some States, such as NSW, have high kill rates – may euthanase healthy/friendly animals. Ask each shelter when you make contact.)
Phone: (02) 9770 7555
Search the PetRescue directory for these groups outside NSW.
